Facial Palsy - A hands-on anatomical course

Med. Fortbildung,  Öffentlich

Welcome to the Facial Palsy Course Vienna 2017!

This course is designed for 28 surgeons with an interest in advanced reconstruction of facial nerve injuries and facial paralysis, with the aim of providing direct experience of the most advanced surgical techniques, including nerve reconstruction procedures, facial reanimation with muscle transfers and ancillary procedures.

The course is organized by the faculties of the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, and Uppsala University, Sweden, with invited renowned facial palsy experts from Austria, Germany, Sweden, Taiwan and the United States of America.

We have arranged an exciting, three-day intensive educational program for 28 surgeons (2 surgeons as one team for head and leg), September 6th - 8th, 2017, involving hands-on dissection and practical lectures on surgical techniques of facial nerve reconstruction in a step-by-step manner. The topics include free and pedicle muscle transfer for facial reanimation and complementary procedures for facial symmetrization and eye closure. The structure of the course is based on practical lectures followed by hands-on practice with cadavers. Lectures with a focus on clinical applications and examples of each technique will conclude the presented techniques.

We believe that this course will be not only an exchange of knowledge today, but also an opportunity for networking, knowledge exchange and collaboration in the future. Therefore, we have planned a social program that includes an informal gathering on Wednesday and a more formal dinner on Thursday.

We look forward to working with you and welcoming you to Vienna!
