Gynecologic Endocrinology

My research group has have a strong focus on general gynecologic endocrinology. First and foremost, we are particularly interested in polycystic ovary syndrome which is the most common gynecologic endocrine disorder. This is due to the facts that neither its pathogenesis nor the ways specific treatments including ovarian drilling and metformin exert their beneficial effects are completely understood. We have an emphasis on the prediction of treatment efficacy as well as on polycystic ovary syndrome’s association with other (endocrine) disorders including hypothyroidism, diabetes and the metabolic syndrome.

Another important focus of our working group is Reproductive Medicine and especially Reproductive Surgery. Again, polycystic ovary syndrome with its surgical treatment “ovarian drilling” is an important topic, however, we also focus on uterine septoplasty, myoma resection and on sex-reassignment surgery in female to male transsexuals.
